White Water Rafting Trip

For our 4th anniversary, my husband and I decided to try something different.  We booked a white water rafting trip for 4 with Colorado Surf Factory in Buena Vista, Colorado.  We invited his brother and his new wife along for the ride.  Let me tell you…..It was a wet and wild trip!  If you have never been white water rafting, what’s holding you back?  There are many options available and many tour guides to take you down Brown’s Canyon, which is a linkup to the Arkansas River.  We choose Colorado Surf Factory because they had a great deal on Groupon.  It was the best decision we ever made.  The guide was knowledgeable and best of all he was funny.  You know how some tour guides have a dry sense of humor and speak in a montone….uummkay.  Well, not this guy!  He went out of his way to make sure that we had a blast, every one got wet and he even let my sister in law out in the middle to take care of business.  What more can you ask for, right?
I suggest booking a group white water rafting tour with a bunch of couples or friends so that you can create the best memories.  If not, you get stuck in a group with a bunch of strangers.  Guess that means you’ll walk away with at least a few new friends!  We got there around 6 am, so that we could get checked in, suited up (optional, but recommended if you freeze easily), and get to know everyone.  They had a ping pong table and cornhole set up to entertain guests while waitng.  There was even a dog there willing to play fetch as long as you would throw the stick.
Once everyone was ready, we all piled into the vans to set out for the river.  Alot of information was given on the conditions of the water, what to do in case the boat flips, or any other emergency arises.  What expectations we had and then we were at the drop off point.  After unloading the boats, securing water bottles, adding last minute sunscreen and last minute potty breaks it was time to hit the rapids.  We went on a Class 2 tour and the waters were pretty calm.  There were tons of rapids and halfway through we were all soaked to the bone.  Glad I made the decision to suit up back at checkin!  There are cameras set up along the route that take pictures of the tour, since there is no way you’ll have time for all that!  If you let go of the paddles, you are in for one crazy ride!  Each boat has a guide on board to give you information on the sites you pass along the river.  They are also there in case of emergency.  We got to know our guide Corey, pretty good and even had lots of great stories to share.
If you are ready to ride the rapids.. Book your white water rafting tour with Colorado Surf Factory!

  2. This looks like a lot of fun. But just thinking about the boat flipping is terrifying! If I can get over that fear, I’ll tell my husband about it. We are new in Colorado and are always looking for new things to do.

  3. This is awesome! I got to raft in Colorado when I was in scouts and once in PA where I live. Can’t wait to go again!
